Auction for 3G Spectrum (2100 Mhz) After New Government Takes Charge : TRAI

India’s telecom regulator TRAI today said that the next 3G spectrum in 2100 Mhz band be auctioned by June 2014 and should be made available immediately after the new government takes charge.

TRAI Chairman Rahul Khullar said “you should be planning now what you are going to do in next 3-4 years from now. One is get 2100 Mhz out by June, 2014 and the moment the new government takes charge, auction it”
Mr Khullar also said that aggressive bidding in the ongoing GSM spectrum (900Mhz and 1800Mhz band) auction may be because of the reason that mobile service providers are not sure when will they have next set of spectrum available for commercial use.
The last Auction of Spectrum in 2100Mhz band for 3G service was happened in May, 2010
